Damien Lacaze won the famous hike-and-fly race around Annecy, just ahead of Charles de Beaufort, who kept us hooked on the livetrack with his Hero XPed.

Charles De Beaufort, a promising youngster from Annecy, was looking for his hike-and-fly wing for the 2025 season. Shortly before the first event of the season, the Bornes to Fly, Charles tested the Hero XPed #yourbestmate and fell in love! The wing was ordered immediately, but the race was fast approaching. It didn’t matter, we lent him our demo wing.

Despite a tricky forecast, a 164km task was set and the pilots surpringly did some amazing progress from the very first day. The end of the second day was nail-biting with Damien, Charles, and Chrigel Maurer being so close. The final sprint opposing Damien and Charles on the last morning marked the athletes’ legs and minds. Charles delivered an outstanding performance through the race, on the ground and in the air.

We are deeply happy and proud! What a start for Charles and the Hero XPed! Well-done! Congratulations to the organisers, volunteers and participants, it truly was an amazing edition.
