Our ParaKite Light is the first of its kind and makes this new discipline surprisingly accessible. Straddling the line between paragliding and parakiting, the Exta opens up a whole new world of possibilities, allowing you to make the most of thermal conditions, enjoy mountain soaring or, quite simply, rediscover your favourite Hike&Fly flight.
It makes this sport more intuitive and accessible, even in the most challenging environments.

With this first Parakite, we wanted to stay true to our DNA: to offer a lightweight wing that’s easy to get to handle and puts a smile on your face.
The aim was to develop a versatile Parakite, suited to our playground: the mountains. Particular care was taken to find the best balance between stability, performance in thermal conditions and handling outside the flight envelope.
Depending on your weight and level of experience, you’ll find the setup that suits you best. Let the Exta express your creativity.

Construction & Features
Accessibility
The Exta has been designed to be accessible to as many people as possible.
The low aspect ratio of the wing, combined with a hybrid design that bridges the gap between a paraglider and a parakite, offers the best balance between the stability characteristic of a parakite and the reactive behaviour of a paraglider outside its flight envelope.
The tension in the internal structure and the management of stiffness along the wing’s chord have resulted in handling characteristics suited to active aerology.
The emphasis has been placed on active safety, notably through the use of pyramid-shaped D-lines that tighten to actively assist re-opening in the event of a frontal collapse
Brake adjustment
The responsiveness of the steering can be adjusted using the various attachment points available on the main brake line’s adjustment scale. The Exta is supplied with a neutral setting, offering the most versatile use.
Shortening the brakes: by positioning the attachment on a lower knot, you will achieve a more direct response from the system and greater influence over its behaviour. This configuration offers increased steering precision, at the cost of greater effort on the controls, as well as improved low-speed performance and better manoeuvrability.
Lengthening the brakes: conversely, by using a higher attachment point, the force required on the controls is reduced and the responses become more progressive.
Durability
We’ve used a more durable fabric on the wing tips to withstand repeated friction, but do take care caressing the ground with the wing tips.
The wing also incorporates the key technologies that are our hallmark: Ghost Nose Guard to protect the leading edge, Nitinol struts (unbreakable and non-deformable, ensuring the profile is maintained), as well as an optimised internal structure to lighten the overall weight, limit deformation and maintain performance over time.
For intensive use, the entire leading edge is made from reinforced fabric, as are the last five cells.
Handling
When the magnets on the risers and brake handles are aligned, you are in neutral. The brake travel is similar to that of a conventional paraglider and ends with a distinct hard spot, providing a clear warning before stalling.
High-performance
With its technical specifications, the Exta delivers excellent performance in both soaring and thermals. It will enable you to reach flight paths that would normally be out of reach.
Lightness
Weighs just 2.2 kg in size 16. It packs away perfectly in a Hike & Fly Trail Rucksack 24L.
FAQ
Can I learn parakite with the Exta?
The moderate behaviour of the Exta’s sizes 18 and 21 makes them suitable for specific parakite instruction. Thanks to their accessible handling, stability and ease of use, they are well-suited to introducing beginners to the sport and supporting pilots as they progress. However, their use in training must be supervised by qualified instructors and must comply with the recommended weight range specified in the wing’s technical specifications.
Can I go speed-flying or speed-flying/riding with a parakite?
Whether for speed-riding or speed flying, the Exta could be your first wing for exploring this discipline though, of course, you’ll need to choose the right size based on your TOW. The Parakite system allows you to practise ‘proxy’ with an increased level of safety thanks to the reserve it provides.
Can you do thermal flying with the Exta?
The Exta’s brake travel is designed to make you feel as though you’re right underneath your paraglider, allowing you to catch thermals with confidence and know exactly where you are in relation to the stall point.
The stability of the airfoil and its low aspect ratio lend themselves to active aerology, ideal for mountain flying. The handles ensure long-lasting comfort for your thermal flights.
How fast do our high-arm parakites go?

How to slump your parakite in strong winds on the ground?
To slump your parakite in strong winds, simply take the B-riser and pull it towards the ground.
Can I do big ears with my parakite?
No, you cannot do big ears with a parakite.
Can I parakite in the mountains?
When designing the Exta, the R&D team wanted to be able to fly in their favorite playground: the mountains. The Exta is made for the conditions we can find with a classic paraglider.
What wind is needed to use the Parakite?
You can fly without wind if you just want to go down the mountain. You can refer to the wind speed table.
Do you need a special harness to do parakiting?
No need for a special harness, you can use a BoxR or a slip. To ensure you can enjoy your Parakite safely, we recommend using a harness fitted with an AirPillow.
Can it collapse like a paraglider?
Yes, what is important to say is that our parakite collapses like a paraglider and not like a parakite.
Do you need to be a paraglider pilot to use a parakite?
No, you don’t need to be a paraglider pilot to learn to fly the Exta. However, you will have to choose the size of your wing according to your weight. We recommend that you comply with the regulations in force in each country and undertake the necessary training so that you can fly legally and safely.
