The XPed series were officially launched at the Stubai Cup (Tirol, Austria) the 14th of March 2025.

2025 marks the return of the legendary Redbull X-Alps and… we are in!

Red Bull X-Alps is often presented as the world’s toughest adventure race. It was founded in 2003 by the late adventurer Hannes Arch and has taken place every two years since then. During almost 2 weeks, 35 athletes compete to cross the Alps by running, hiking and flying. In 2025, two of them will be flying with AirDesign gear.

The Hero 2 marked the return of AirDesign to the segment of EN-D gliders developed for hike-and-fly. But, now we're talking about the @redbullxalps! For a race of this magnitude, a completely new glider was needed.

With the Hero XPed, we take that one step further. It’s the lightest Hero ever created, yet still dependable in any situation.

The tension in the wing span has been improved to make it even more all-terrain in tough conditions while maintaining the right flexibility at the wingtips to preserve excellent floatation qualities when conditions weaken. The turning behavior has also evolved significantly to facilitate thermalling using the whole range of brakes while offering greater soaring abilities.
