Hugo Heneault won the first edition of the Chartreuse X-Plouf
One month ago, the „Chartreuse X-plouf“ took place in the heart of the Chartreuse massif, behind the famous ridges of Saint-Hilaire.
Organized by our friend Loïs Martin, it is a quite new type of hike-and-fly competition. Beginners-friendly and with a very nice „break your own rules“ spirit, it was natural to become their partner and that the winner was… one of our team pilots!
Hugo Heneault🥇 tells us more about the race:
It was a great adventure, typically from the Chartreuse range, very wet on the first day but in a good mood (we were a small team of 4 very motivated!) and with music (a small speaker clipped to the rucksack to keep our spirits up in the rain)… we even took the snow horizontally on one of the summits, Chamechaude 🥶
And fortunately a flight on the 2nd day, in a lot of wind from the Charmant Som (the RONIN behaved superbly, I didn’t have so much experience with it in strong wind and was really happy with its behavior), then really too much wind to fly again in Chartreuse! :’)
Over the two days, 62 km of mud-snow-trail, 4500d+ (and 3800d-… 🤣)
And a first place in this first X-Plouf, so happy because it’s like home to me 🙂
This really fun format deserves to be democratized: we are encouraged to go see local partners (farmers mostly but not only), to stay in a group or take selfies with strangers to increase our points, to fancy dress up for the common evening, to come by soft mobility or carpooling… It’s not just the big performance that allows you to win, that’s really cool!
Congratulations to all!
